Organisers are hosting the AGM of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth for which Princess Anne is the president.
The three-day agricultural show, held since 1960 near Wadebridge, attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year.
Last month it was announced two of the biggest exhibitors, Cornwall Council and Cornwall Farmers, would not attend.
Cornwall Council said it was because of budget cuts and Cornwall Farmers said it planned to focus on its stores.
Princess Anne's last visit to the show was in 2008, when she officially opened the Pavilion Centre on the showground.
Organisers said they expected to attract more than the 113,700 visitors of 2012, when the attendance figures was down on the previous year, due to heavy rain and gales.
The event features entertainment, animal shows, flower shows, horse displays, countryside, forestry, steam and vintage vehicles and more than 1,000 trade stands.
